The first technical training and project meeting of the MECAS (Development of Master curricula in EcoInformatics for the impact on the Aral Sea basin) project of the Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy, was held. During the meeting, achievements, challenges, and future tasks within the project were discussed.
This project aims to solve environmental problems in the Aral Sea region and involves the development of a new master's program in the field of Ecoinformatics. A total of 16 new subjects are planned to be developed within the framework of the project, and training was conducted on some of them during this training.
The training covered the following areas:
- application of artificial intelligence in ecology,
- remote sensing and image processing,
- modeling the Aral Sea problem,
- environmental research methodology,
- entrepreneurship in the field of ecoinformatics.
The event was attended by representatives of leading higher education institutions from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In particular, TIIAME National Research University, Nukus State Technical University, Urgench State University and other partner organizations took an active part.
The following issues were discussed during the project meeting:
- Development of the Ecoinformatics master's program,
- Preparation of training courses and teaching materials,
- Implementation of project management and quality control systems,
- broad promotion (dissemination) and practical implementation of the results
This training allowed participants to acquire modern knowledge and skills, as well as exchange international experience. In the future, it is planned to organize a number of other trainings and educational activities within the framework of the project.
