The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers National Research University (TIIAME NRU) is one of the leading higher education and research institutions in Uzbekistan specializing in irrigation engineering, water resources management, agricultural mechanization, environmental sciences, and sustainable development.
The history of the university dates back to 1923, when the first reclamation engineering faculty was established within Turkestan State University. This milestone laid the foundation for modern irrigation and water engineering education in Central Asia.
Over more than a century, the institution has undergone several stages of development and transformation. In line with national reforms aimed at strengthening innovation, scientific research, and international cooperation, it was granted the status of a National Research University.
Today, TIIAME NRU comprises multiple faculties covering hydromelioration, hydrotechnical construction, energy systems, ecology and environmental management, agricultural mechanization, land resources and cadastre, economics, and various engineering disciplines.
The university plays a vital role in preparing highly qualified specialists for the water management, agriculture, environmental protection, and climate adaptation sectors — areas that are critically important for arid and semi-arid regions. Its educational programs integrate strong theoretical foundations with applied research, digital technologies, and international collaboration.
TIIAME NRU maintains partnerships with numerous foreign universities and research centers, contributing to global scientific exchange and innovation. Currently, the university is recognized as a regional leader in engineering and environmental education, promoting sustainable development through interdisciplinary research, innovation-driven education, and close cooperation with industry.
Its academic and research activities are focused on addressing key global challenges, including water scarcity, climate change, renewable energy development, and sustainable agriculture.
